When Escape Factor decided to create an escape room with a game show theme, they tapped Yearbook Studios to design the space. We drew our inspiration from game shows of the early 1970s to create an experience that would not only transport visitors to another space, but another era as well.
We did thorough research of game show set designs of the late 1960s and early 70s. We developed a palette of bright period colors and designed build-outs to house the individual puzzles that were masked as games. The perimeter of the room was framed with a raised step of orange shag carpet to further push the feeling of a retro game show set. We developed graphics for each of the game show puzzles with period typography that was lifted directly from shows of the period.
